Photos of the renovation

Back in 2007 we purchased 50 Main St, Tobermory. It was an Outdoor Clothing Shop and that winter we put our blood sweat and tears into turning it into our dream....the Isle of Mull Soap Co.

We were delighted to find this beautiful sandstone fire place hidden behind the panelling. We removed all the rubble and pointed the stone wall, a gorgeous feature now in the shop. Unfortunately the chimney is broken and its not safe to have a real fire in it now.

A great guy, Jimmy Maloy often popped in to check on progress. He brought in this tree trunk one day - 'perfect for the job' he said. After scrapping off the bark and adding some wood stain we wedged it into place. It supports the main beam across the middle of the shop and has now become the centrepiece of our 'Build a Mull Soap Gift Set Display'

All our products are displayed on these solid wood shelf units. We actually found them dumped in a local field. After lots of tic and buttermilk paint they now take pride of place, showing off our handmade smellies beautifully.

We opened with a bang in March 2008. Check out our Opening Party Blog (coming soon)
